Welcome to my tour of a simple website.

This is the home page . Its a bit like the front cover, contents page and introduction of a book all rolled into one. In most websites, you can get back to this page from anywhere else in the site by clicking on the logo at the top of the page.

You can also use your web browser's "Back" button to go back to the previous page you visited.

The purple bar down the left hand side of the page is called the "navigation bar" — most websites have one. It gives you a list of links to the other pages on the website. These links could just be underlined text (usually bright blue) or graphic links (like mine). Clicking on a link takes you to a different webpage.

Here are a couple of ways to tell whether a graphic is actually a link:

  1. Links have a coloured border round them (usually bright blue if you haven't used the link yet or purple if you have).

  2. If you point your mouse at a link, your pointer turns into a little hand (try it).

Right, that's a few basics covered. Now click on the first link in the navigation bar — it will take you to a page full of links to other sites that you can try.
