The book that tells you how to keep more of your own money...

They're Out to Pocket Your Money

Which of these scams, swizzes and tricks are big businesses (or little con-men) now using on you?

A story of household names and questionable morals

Dear Reader,

Out-and-out scams and cons

Big businesses indulging in sneaky little gambits

Just-about-legal swizzes

There’s no end to the tricks unscrupulous scumbags are using day in, day out to try to get hold of your money. And even worse...

It’s not just out-and-out con-men. It’s big businesses, small time crooks, overseas spam merchants... Even the taxman has moments when he, well, let’s say he keeps very quiet about tax allowances that are yours by right.

You don’t have to be daft to fall for these tricks. Some of them are so sophisticated & clever that... it’s hard not to fall for them. And there are others where if you don’t already know about the scam or swizz, you’ve basically got no chance. (Like some of the tax allowances they don’t mention... or some of the charges businesses add that you don’t have to pay.)

The more research I did, the more of these tricks I found out.

But I also found out something else:

It doesn’t have to be like this – the padlock for your pocket...

In fact, in some cases, simply knowing about the scam will keep you safe. Once you know about it, you won’t fall for it. Simple as that. It’ll be too obvious that the scam is being tried on you. If you like, you can even embarrass the con-man by telling him you know how it works. Or quietly call the police and do everyone a favour.

In other cases, once you know what’s going on a quick phone call will sort out the problem – once you know what to say.

The more I discovered, the more disgusted I became. And I felt that I should let as many people as possible know about all of these tricks, scams and swizzes. After all, chances are that some of them are being used on you even as I write.

That’s why I wrote this book – They’re Out To Pocket Your Money.

The book that helps you keep more of your own money...

Some of the things you’ll read about in this book are actual cons (and illegal), some are simply underhand methods that companies and fat-cats use to get more of your cash than they should.

But if I simply told you about the tricks and scams being used on you right now, all I’d do is raise your blood pressure! So I’ve also covered exactly what to do to stop these tricks being used on you… or how to get your money back if your pocket’s already been picked.

In some cases, even after the money has been swiped from your bank account, if you know what to do, you can get it back again with a simple phone call or a few minutes filling in a form.

Don’t get the wrong idea. I’m not only talking about a fiver a time. Some of the information can save you much more...

For example –7 deadly sins against your wallet (and how to stop them):

  1. It’s daft, but this saved me £20 per year on my car insurance (no, it’s not giving a different job title – you have to be very careful with that in case you have an accident and they decide it was a fib). Page 39
  2. On page 38 you’ll discover how last year my insurance company tried to pocket an extra £600 of my money. Just 20 minutes stopped them. 20 minutes for £600? Not bad!
  3. How email scams get you when they don’t ask for your credit card details. What should you do? Find out on page 79
  4. Why a drainpipe in the wrong place can cost you £100s extra in council tax (unless you live in Wales). You don’t need to even move the drainpipe to get the money back. To find out what to do turn to page 58.
  5. PC turned off? This computer scam can still hit you.
But not once you’ve read page 89.
  6. Wear a uniform at work? Reading pages 51 and 52 could pay for the book 5-11 times over. There’s a tax break you’re entitled to that the tax-man would prefer you didn’t know about.
  7. "Buy one get one free" offers can be great. But some supermarkets simply double (or more) the price first. Page 10 shows you how to spot this in seconds – and you don’t need to remember the normal price.

There are lots more tips, too... from how to find a company’s address when they try to hide it to the "mind reader scam" to the "cost cutting deals" you’ll be offered that cost 2 out of 7 people more.

Nearly all of the tips are dead easy to use – just taking a couple of minutes. It doesn’t have to take a lot of time to keep more of your money in your pocket.

Could this be you?
Since you’ve read this far, chances are you’re the kind of person who could benefit from the information in this book. Like one lady I spoke to recently. She was out of pocket £118 because of the scam on page 76. If only she’d known about it beforehand!
Not knowing cost her £118...

If only that lady had read this book, she’d be £118 better off. (Maybe more, that’s just from knowing about that one trick.) She asked me not to name her because she was embarrassed about having been taken in. She shouldn’t be embarrassed – lots of other people are being caught by the same scam every day. In fact...

Having seen just how many different ploys are used every day, by dodgy scam-artists and by “respectable” big businesses, I’d be surprised if only one tip from this book saved you money.

But even if there is only one – £118 is not to be sniffed at! (And that’s not the most expensive scam you’ll be protected against, either.)

So what’s a fair price to charge for this book? Well, if it was priced at £118 it would have still paid for itself for that lady. But that would be a lot for a book! On the other hand, lots of specialist books are £30 or so.

But £30 is more than I want to charge. So...

I won’t charge £30... or even £20, even if I could sell the book at that price. I’d rather price it cheaper so I can warn as many people as possible about all these scams and swizzes.

I was going to charge £11.97 (the same as most of my other books). But I umm-ed and ahh-ed... and decided to bring it down to £9.97 (plus £2.99 p&p per order) – for now at least. I’m reserving the right to change my mind in the future and put it up again.

So buying this book would have left the lady I mentioned over a hundred pounds in pocket – even if she never looked at the book again. (and as I’ve mentioned, just three tips in this book saved me a total of over £700).

But one more thing you should know – let me get this clear

This isn’t the kind of book you see piles of in the bookshops or the supermarkets, written by some journalist-for-hire trying to fill the pages up with whatever they can.

As you’ll see, each of the 133 pages is written as simply as possible. There’s no trying to show off, no name-dropping or made-up stories. Just the facts: each swizz explained as simply as possible so you know how to avoid it. And how to keep more of your own money.

Best act now – even now, one of the scams could be being used on you...

Don’t wait – the longer you wait, the longer you’re unprotected from the tricksters. Best get your copy now. After all, there’s no risk: if you don’t think the book will save you more money than it cost, just send it back for a full refund.
